you know you love me

August 18, 2008

So Gossip Girl returns to our (hopefully laptop) screens on September 1.

Obsession doesn’t even come close to my love of this show.

But… but… but…

While at home this weekend, I rooted out some of my old GG novels. And suddenly I was very angry.

I mean I knew the show was different but I guess I conveniently forgot just how much different.

*sigh*

Serena was my favourite in the books but in the show, she’s so meh, so bland, so boring. Blair on the other hand is awesome in both. Nate (Chase Crawford) is gorgeous but, like Serena, his character leaves a lot to be desired. Seriously, he’d be so much more interesting if he was the pothead he’s supposed to be.

I have to admit that Dan and Vanessa are hella better in the show but JENNY! I’m sorry but I do not hold one ounce of pity or admiration for her. She’s supposed to be the Serena-obsessed underdog with massive boobs and frizzy hair. NOT a Blair-style bitch.

I still can’t wait for the new season to start, even though the episodes after the extended break fell flat for me (especially the finale).

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

Last night I watched Grey’s Anatomy for the first time in god knows how long.

Oh how I’ve missed it.

I’m ridiculously behind and haven’t a clue what’s going on but I found some comfort in the fact that it can still make me think.

For instance last night had me questioning whether or not I’d have surgery if I found out I had a brain tumour.

Morbid stuff indeed.

It also has a calming effect on me. Last night I was tearing my hair out over not having broadband and having to pitch at least three business features to my editor by today. Tears were pouring, helped along by the fact that no one in my family understands the pressure I’m under (or that journalism is an actual career choice):

“Ah would ya look at Lyndsay there with her papers… Bless!”

And then Grey’s Anatomy started and made it all better.

ps - the spiders are gone but now I’m dreaming of living in a shower with three of my guy friends

As my life continues to resemble that of Lauren Conrad (minus the People’s Revolution job and MTV cameras) it’s only right to air my fondness of the girl.

With her love of Chanel and Marc Jacobs, and her penchant for wearing big sunglasses, black tights, liquid eyeliner and dark nail polish, I think we’d be best friends. I mean, I already know everything about her life.

Ok maybe I’m not blonde, rich or the star of an MTV show but we both have hefty amounts of unwanted drama in our life. Oh and…

Lauren: Whitney, Whitney come here. I met a cute guy, come here. Tell me if you think he’s cute ‘cause I’m drunk.
~Season 3, Episode 1

Lauren: You know why I’m mad. You know what you did!
Season 3, Episode 1

Lauren: You know how like there’s that one person that you always go back to? You’ll date other people, but like you kind of want to run into them when you’re out.
~Season 3, Episode 2

Lauren: And for once, my career and my personal were under control. Why is it that just when you get things together, you hear from the one person who could pull it all apart?
~Season 3, Episode 6

Lauren: He thinks I like him… Seriously, I never wanted to stab myself in the eye more.
~Season 3, Episode 6

and many many more…

Pie is home. People always come home.

Pushing Daisies has joined the likes of Gossip Girl, America’s Next Top Model, So You Think You Can Dance and The Hills on my list of must-not-miss-an-episode-ever.

It is amazing.

I heard a lot about it through blogs and stuff but never made an effort to check it out for myself until it came to ITV. Now I’m obsessed. But not the kind of obsessed that makes you look up every episode online because you have to have to HAVE TO know what happens and you have to know NOW. The kind of obsessed where you’re content to wait all week for the next episode to air and then get all giddy with excitement as it starts.

What’s not to love? I love the quirky Amélie/Tim Burton look of it. I love Chuck’s clothes. I love Anna Friel. I love how she’s finally making it big. I LOVE Lee Pace (Ned). I love Digby the dog. I love Kristin Chenoweth. I love the script. I love the Pie Hole. I love the boxes the pies are delivered in. I love the fact that last week’s episode featured a windmill retirement farm. I love when Ned and Chuck kiss through plastic wrap.

Did I mention I love Lee Pace?

Neil Haskell from So You Think You Can Dance? 3

I loved him almost as much as I loved Travis from last season.
(Anyone who knows me knows just how much that was…)

I am in awe of this guy.

Gossip Girl is back!!!!!

Words cannot portray my excitement. After leaving us hanging in January (ohmagawsh) at the end of episode 13, it’s FINALLY returning to our screens (ahem…) on Monday, April 21.

Episode 14 - The Blair Bitch Project. LOVE it!

Here’s some Blair for old time’s sake…

Under my skin

March 3, 2008

The opening episode of series two of Skins left a lot to be desired… To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

But to my immense delight, the second episode was amazing. It saw the introduction of Maxxie’s stalker, Sketch.

She is so wonderfully twisted, psychopathic, weird, crazy… The scene where she was writhing on Maxxie’s bed while wearing his shirt and boxers was uncomfortable viewing but it was probably one of the most explicit scenes to be shown on the show. Then the way she got Shane Ritchie wrongly convicted and poisoned Michelle and slapped Maxxie and wow… Thank you E4, thank you very much.

Also, Osama The Musical - sheer brilliance.

Last week’s episode made me cry though…

Skins

February 1, 2008

Words cannot portray my excitement that Season Two of Skins is almost here. I was veritably obsessed with it last year.

When I saw that trailer, my first thought was “Wow! I want to have a party like that!” and my second was “What is this show?!”.

Even though Skins’ writers insist the series represents the everyday lives of teenagers today, it’s a bit unrealistic… It would be a whole lot more believable if the characters were in college but they’re all supposed to be aged between 16 and 18.

Nevertheless I was hooked. And the second series looks just as promising.

I love Cassie, the endearing, anorexic, ditzy, space cadet whose vocabulary extends as far as “Like… wow… really lovely…totally… cool”.
