It’s been ages since I filled out one of these questionnaires but how can I refuse the lovely Hannah Rose?

1.) why did you start blogging?

I wanted to do something for myself and practice writing in a place where people might not necessarily see it, but if they did happen to stumble across it, so be it. At first I kept it a secret and after a while I popped it into my email signature, and friends started to go “Oh, so I saw your blog…”

While lots of things have changed about Lovely Disco over the past three years, one thing I’ve always stuck by is never blogging for the sake of it, ie. forcing myself to blog every day, whether I have something interesting to say or not.

2.) do you prefer spring/summer or autumn/winter?

I do love how effortless spring/summer is but it’s so easy to get bored of it, especially in New York. Autumn/winter presents a much greater opportunity to be creative. You can have so much fun with textures and layers and there’s always so many great coats.

3.) what do you notice first: smokey eye make-up or bright lips?

A bright lip for sure.

4.) who are your style icons?

Alexa Chung, the Olsens, Kirstin Dunst, Taylor Tomassi Hill, Kate Lanphear.

5.) describe your personality in three words?

Amusing, calm, surprising.

6.) if you had to leave the house with only one item of make-up what would it be?

Mac concealer, for the under-eye shadows that just won’t budge – they terrify my mother whenever she sees me.

7.) Which era do you think influenced fashion the most?

I don’t know about influencing it the most but the 30s definitely had a massive affect on the fashion industry, thanks to Katherine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich making it acceptable for women to wear trousers and thereby opening the door to a plethora of wardrobe possibilities.

8.) what beauty product do you always repurchase?

Maybelline Great Lash in Blackest Black.
