My girlfriend and I have been developing a set of anthropological heuristics enabling us to accurately distinguish between Hipster, Hippy, and Homeless.

It’s a lot more difficult than you may expect, but we’ve made some headway. For example:

One can sort, ranked by scent:
Hipster < Homeless < Hippy

Alternately, we’ve found utility in simply seeking out the Hipster’s female companion.

For example, if she’s wearing black leggings and large plastic earrings she’s a hipster, therefore HE’s a hipster….unless she’s 40. In which case they are homeless.

haha… I love it! You pretty much summed up the crowd that hangs out in the corner of my local university pub. The red leopard-print pants are a nice touch.
