But soft…

February 29, 2008

Even though I constantly wanted to throw up, die and run away this week, I didn’t.

Romeo&Juliet and the Vagina Monologues went amazingly well.

I’m so so so glad that Catherine Carr and Susan Doyle cast me. I got a chance to prove to myself, and others, that I can do more than comedy and panto.

I was an emotional mess on Monday night after R&J’s first show. I had been so wound up with nerves that when friends came up and hugged me afterwards, I cried.

A lot.

And the monologues last night was such an amazing buzz to end my love affair with DCU Drama on. Being on stage all on my own for almost five minutes, in a sold-out theatre, talking about vaginas… wasn’t actually that bad at all! Nerve-wracking, yes but the amazing audience made it easy. If they hadn’t reacted the way they did to my first sentence, I don’t know if I would have relaxed as soon as I did. Someone even came up to me afterwards and told me that I had made him cry.

Love, love, LOVE to all.

Ah here…

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2008 took place last night in London. Arctic Monkeys won all around them (surprise surprise), Klaxons won Best Album for Myths Of The Near Future (woo) and Britney’s comeback Blackout received the award for Worst Album.

I’m sorry… what?

Blackout is amaaaaaaazing. It was on repeat all day every day in my house for about a fortnight after its release. Britney might be a mess but her album certainly wasn’t.

And the oscar goes to…

No Country For Old Men cleared up at this year’s Oscars, winning Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.

I have to admit I have no desire to see this film, even though I’ve only heard good things about it. Maybe I’m just lazy…

Juno won Best Original Screenplay and rightly so.

Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis
Best Actress: Marion Cotillard
Best Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem
Best Supporting Actress: Tilda Swinton

Oh…and Glen Hansard won Best Song for ‘Falling Slowly’.

Don’t caaaaare

They tried to make me go to rehab…

Kirsten Dunst is in rehab.

The 25-year-old checked into an unknown facility for an unspecified problem (despite several publications insisting it was Cirque Lodge in Utah) during the week.

A well-known celebrity gossip blogger has previously referred to her as Kiki Drunkst which leads me to believe she needs help with an alcohol problem.

Kirsten is currently the face of Miu Miu’s SS08 campaign. What’s funny is that Lindsay Lohan modelled for their SS07 line and last year she spent €96,500 on rehab costs in an effort to kick her drug and alcohol problems.

I love Hayden Christensen.

Today I saw a trailer for his new flick Jumper and the sound I emitted was almost inhuman.

Yum.

Britney Spears has been released from hospital.

According to Reuters, the 26 year old was escorted from UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday, after undergoing a mental evaluation.

We all know what the former pop princess has been through in the last year and a bit… She’s clearly not well. In the infamous words of Chris Crocker: “Leave Britney alone!”.

To be fair, she doesn’t exactly do herself any favours, going out for Starbucks all the time when she could just get someone else to do it, and shacking up with paparazzi. The only way she’s going to get better is if she retires completely from the public eye for a while…

The Aristocats is finally coming out on DVD. I’m very excited. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, my all-time favourite Disney movie. I can’t understand why it’s never got the credit it deserves. Most of my friends haven’t seen it and don’t even particularly want to.

I have a copy of it on video that I bought out of my communion money (I was made save the rest of it) when I was 7 and I watched it everyday for a month. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen it but the last time I watched it I was pleasantly surprised that I still knew all the characters’ lines and all the songs.

Some hours later…

Oh! Now I see! Visit this lil lady. A bit like Facehunter but friendlier.
