My eleven-year love affair with Ms Spears is still going strong and I think ‘Circus’ is by far her best album. I know a lot of people didn’t like it because of how different it was to her old stuff but for me it showcased Britney’s ability to grow as an artist and move with the times, in a less cringey way than Madonna.

I liked her. I didn’t like her. I loved her. I hated her.
The past twelve months have been somewhat of a rocky road for me and Lady G. Once she went mainstream a year ago, I thought I’d lost her for good – especially when my fourteen-year-old tasteless cousin told me she was a fan. But who am I to begrudge the world such a crazy, talented, pantsless superstar?

Sometimes good press can be too much press and between my first hearing of ‘Quicksand’ on a Kitsuné compilation a year ago and last summer when the album came out, I was sick of La Roux. And I’m not just talking about the hair.
But the self-titled debut from Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid is the stuff of dreams and by the time I caught a live show in New York in October, I was quite enamoured with the whole thing.

And so it was that 2010 became known as the Year of the Goulding, as Ellie took over the world and made it look easy.
As with most things, The Bubble Boy gently nudged me in her direction early in the year and I’ve been hooked ever since. Half the time I can’t make out what she’s singing but her voice is so pretty and melodic that I don’t care.
